日本お花 Japanese flowers:
Beautiful flowers are so much a part of the culture of Japan I hardly know where to begin. Perhaps I'll just put them up on this page and let you view them for yourself. This is only a small fraction of the photos I've taken of Japanese flowers, and that is only a small fraction of the beautiful flowers you can see in Japan.
The most famous of all Japanese flowers would have to be the cherry blossom, or sakura in Japanese. It has come to symbolize the country itself. Their exquisite beauty and their brief flowering at the peak of spring have come to symbolize the nature of human life. I have only two photos for this page, partly because cherry blossoms are an overdone cliche, but partly because they seem to attract noisy drunks the way other flowers attract insects. Enjoy!
I have to confess that my own preference is for plum blossoms. They blossom earlier, so they are not the site of noisy drinking parties the way cherry blossoms are. Their beauty is less gaudy and spectacular than that of the cherry blossoms, but their beauty has a subtle simplicity that is often lost in the modern world. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
The rest of the flowers I'll just put up together. Enjoy!
More to come!
